The Customer Gateway enables the integration of a range of Customer Management Systems (CMS) within Bento. This flexibility allows you to retain control of your customer data using familiar tools while leveraging this data to enhance your offerings within Bento.
Principles
The Customer Gateway is built on the following fundamental principles:
Seamless Integration with Other Bento Services - Maximise the potential of your customer data across Bento Box, regardless of where it is managed.
Read-Only Access to Data - Customer data managed by systems outside of Bento Box is exclusively read-access. This ensures you maintain full control over your data.
Providers
The following providers are currently supported for the Customer Gateway:
Provider | Description | Link |
---|---|---|
Bento Box | Native customer management provided by Bento, including an administrative interface within Bento Admin. | |
Shopify | Enables Shopify powered stores to manage customer information directly through Shopify | Learn more |
Proxy | Supports using a third-party system, adhering to our API specifications, as the primary source for customer information within Bento. |
What if my provider is not supported?
If your current CMS platform is not directly supported, you can utilise the Proxy provider integration. This method involves creating a simple facade layer that adheres to our Proxy API specifications, allowing you to connect your CMS to Bento Box effectively.
The facade layer is required to implement the following, to be compliant with the Proxy integration; and is expected to be a simple transformation layer converting requests in the Bento format to the underlying CMS’s format.
